We snort, we sniffle, we wheeze, we grunt, we snore, we sneeze--Pugs Rock--Pugs Roll !!!

Pugs are a toy breed.  They come in two colors, fawn like me, Taz, or black.  The eyes of a pug are big and a beautiful  dark chocolatey color.  We have a very wrinkly face and a flat nose, I guess that is why people think we're funny. We have a very distinguished gait when we walk --sort of like rolling along. You may have read that pugs don't shed- WRONG-we do and not just a little.  A good brushing weekly will help.  We are definitely not an aggressive breed, as a matter of fact we don't bark often and love everyone we meet.  I myself love all dogs--big or small, which has given mom fits--I swear she thinks I'm human sometimes  We have a great sense of humor and take advantage of it at every opportunity. If you want your own personal comedian, get a pug, you will laugh daily, I promise.

Did you know ?

To communicate with their humans Pugs make a grunting nasally noise sorta like a pig.  We like to be close to our humans (my mom likes to mess with me by walking all over the house, from room to room, and I follow her absolutely every where, sniffling the whole time, she doesn't know that I know what she's doing--HA!)  We have tremendous charm, and are very loving & outgoing--did I say very loving?

What's with the tail?
Why does everyone love our tails?  Because it lays in a curl or a double curl on our back?  Or because when we wag it, our whole butt moves? Have no idea why the tail is all curly like it is, but hey that's what makes us PUGS !!!

Ok , Believe it or not, I can do a couple of tricks nothing major but I did win a contest for the fastest response to the "Down" command when I was a pup.  I can also sit, beg, roll over, & crawl (not to brag).  Click on "Tricks" below to see a selection of books that can help you in training your Pug!

Pug Care:
Pugs are extremely sensitive to heat , we can't cool ourselves off, so don't even consider getting one of us if you live in a hot climate without air conditioning, or intend on leaving us outside.  No Way!  I personally don't enjoy any temperature over 75 degrees, and humidity?  Forget it, no way, can't stand it, can't breathe.   Oh, and another thing, clean that wrinkle right above my nose, it can't stay too clean all covered up like that, you know.  Food and other nasty stuff gets in there and can cause infection not to mention will probably start to smell (YUK)  Also when my nose gets chapped, put some Vaseline on there-- I know, just because I act like I hate, it doesn't mean I don't need it. Please don't think your Pug is going to be your best jogging buddy, cuz it ain't happening. We Pugs are a low activity kind of dog, not frisbee chasers by any means.
